Here are a few examples of lifecycle refresh projects that we have undertaken.

Medical Network Core Switch Upgrade

For this project we were asked to replace aging core infrastructure with modernized hardware, within hospitals located throughout San Antonio. The solution utilized Catalyst 6500 chassis operating in Virtual Switch System mode, for maximum redundancy and availability. Because of the nature of the hospitals, we were required to perform service impacting work during non-peak hours, which were determined on a site by site basis. In addition to converting legacy configurations from old, Cat-OS commands to Cisco IOS, we also encountered significant challenges with the cabling plant. By effectively levering our team's resources we were able to divide and conquer the work, and successfully upgraded all locations.

Enterprise Access Switch Refresh

Our client had been operating on a range of older Cisco Catalyst switches throughout their 25 locations. As part of a complete Unified Communications rollout, the access sites required refreshed network components, and in most closets had to be completely re-wired with new jumper cables. Special cables with blinking LED's were procured, and while VTS network engineers configured the equipment a group of dedicated technicians replaced all the jumpers. This project provided the customer with power supply redundancy, improved uplink capacity, and quality of service enhancements critical to the success of the UC deployment. A very aggressive schedule was developed, and VTS met the customer's requirements for time and budget.

Municipality Police Department Upgrade

For this engagement VTS Group upgraded the City Hall core network, and re-utilized the old Core switch with freshed modules to provide Core layer functionality within the Police Department. This project required expertise across several Cisco operating systems to perform the refresh. The upgrades were performed outside of peak hours and no follow on issues were encountered after the cutover.
